Overview

Częstochowa is a city in Silesia, about 130 km from Krakow. The story goes that during the Swedish Flood of the 17th century, the Swedish army tried to take control of the monastery and steal the image of the Black Madonna. But brave monks successfully defeated them and hid the picture in a safe place. Every year this monastery is visited by pilgrims from all over the world, it was also a place of pilgrimage for Pope John Paul II.

After reaching the village, visit the sanctuary with the Pauline Monastery in Częstochowa. The sanctuary is located on the hill "Jasna Góra" (bright mountain). It is one of the most important places of the cult of Mary and the most important pilgrimage center of Catholics in Poland with a wondrous picture of Our Lady of Czestochowa (Black Madonna) and a collection of many other works of art, mostly sacred. While you visit the sacred complex, you can go to the monastery tower, the highest vantage point from which you can admire the panorama of the city of Czestochowa.
