What To Expect

John Paul II Square in Wadowice
City of Wadowice, home town of Karol Wojtyla, the future Pope John Paul II, is located 50 km (31 miles) from Krakow. In past it was a small village, at present it is one of the most important pilgrimage destination in Poland and Europe. Family House of John Paul II, now transformed into a museum, is situated on the edge of the Main Square in Wadowice. Another recognizable building in Wadowice is the Basillica of the Offering of the Blessed virgin Mary – place where Karol Wojtyla was baptized and confirmed. Inside the Basillica you will see a baptism certificate and baptism bowl.

Kalwaria Zebrzydowska
Kalwaria Zebrzydowska was founded in 1601. It is well-known for the Bernardine ( Grey Friar) Monastery. It is officially called the Mannerist Architectural and Park Landscape Complex and Pilgrimage Park. It was listed in 1999 on the UNESCO World Cultural and Natural Heritage List. In the 17th century Baroque Church you will find famous miraculous painting of the Blessed Virgin Mary of Kalwaria.
