For almost 800 years the Market Square has been the central square of Royal Cracow! What has not happened here only during this time!

First, we will walk around the square itself, find the most interesting artifacts of the old times and unravel their purpose, find out what events took place here, what legendary persons have been here.

After that, we will go 4 meters underground to the Dungeon Market Museum to find ourselves on the same level as the cobbled roads of Krakow 12-13th century. Why did they get so low? As well as the first trading rows built here, as well as the rings and coins that were lost by the people of Krakow in the 13th century? The Krakow Undergrounds Museum on the Market Square, opened in 2010, is a kind of archaeological park where you can observe pictures of the life of a large, bustling medieval city. With the help of modern technology, the authors of the project created the ideal illusion of a lively medieval city.

At a depth of several meters below the surface of the Main Market Square, from the Cloth Hall to St Mary’s Church, awaits a true treasure trove of information on Kraków’s past. In 4000-square-meters underground there are streets and stands of thousands of years old, and there is atmosphere of the market square - you can hear merchants talking and carts creaking. Scales, coins, clothes, jewelries and even human remains - all the artifacts were found during the excavations.
